MORE CUFF PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE TOP PICKS 2017 Edition

Cody Cook, Programming Committee
Preferred genre: Sleazy exploitation and trash cinema.

Top Pick:  LAKE BODOM – Those crazy folks at the Night Terrors Film Society will be introducing the film so make sure to come watch this creepy midnight feature!

Must sees: G FUNK, ARE WE NOT CATS and SOME FREAKS are my top 3 picks for this year's' festival!

Jim Evans, Programming Committee
Preferred genre: Shorts‎, late night Japanese gore, twisted dark humour, super quirky funny stuff that makes you and you best friend who came to CUFF with you understand why it's so damn funny you pee just a little...

Top Pick: DEATH METAL (plays as part of the SHORTS: STICKY SITUATIONS package). ‎This demon possessed guitar is like the devil went down to New Zealand and spent time with Peter Jackson right after he made Dead Alive. Juicy gory metal fun!!

Must sees: Shorts shorts shorts! 5 FILMS ABOUT TECHNOLOGY (plays as part of the SHORTS: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' package). This is a totally hilarious exploration of our new world technology order – get ready to laugh out loud.

There are also two animated shorts that I loved, also playing as part of the SHORTS: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' package. UNTAMED TRUTHS is a creeping surprise film that had me in stitches by the time we see penis handshakes. MADE IN SPAIN – think Robot Chicken goes to Spain and spends a day at the beach with great beach hijinx.

Brittney Kowalski, Programming Committee
Preferred Genre: I personally enjoy anything in and around the realm of a cringe-worthy comedic horror flick. Having my skin crawl, yet being able to laugh at something quirky simultaneously is my favourite.

Top Pick: WINNER GAGNANT is a short film that displays a cheeky and eccentric approach by a Canadian female director showcasing a woman's search to find some relief of feeling like a perpetual loser. This film plays before PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT ME

Must Sees: MONGOOSE is another Canadian short film that portrays a woman confronting her childhood imaginary friend that has become trapped within the walls of her home portrayed through animation. This can be seen before THE UNTAMED.

The shorts package SHORTS: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', because who doesn't want to watch 10 short films back to back that highlights both local and international talent. These films have that touch of blissful cringe-worthiness that I admire. No better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Jay Wooley, Programming Committee
Preferred Genre: Movies where nothing happens except people talking or walking around, hopefully in dark places.

Top Pick: 78/52, this film was just great to watch and I always love seeing film folk geeking out movies they love.

Must Sees: Both the shorts packages SHORTS: AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' and SHORTS: STICKY SITUATIONS are jam packed with amazing films, you will feel all the feels.
