The documentary entitled, Still Beautiful, is a story of burn survivor, Kelly Falardeau. It chronicles her inspirational journey from being the self-described ugly “scarface” girl to the successful international public speaker and best-selling author on inner beauty, resilience and courage. The message carries a deep and powerful message of self-love and acceptance, self-esteem, positive body image and self-empowerment.

What started as a small, inspiring documentary launch has kind of exploded into a movement - #StillBeautiful. We think it’s because women have really come out strongly in the last year with other movements and are also fed up with the impossible media spin on the ideal of beauty. Whatever the cause, we’re glad it is helping so many people begin a new dialogue.

94% of women and 84% of men are affected by body-shaming. And it’s not just adults who are victims, another study found 81% of 10-year-olds are afraid of being ugly and fat, and 51% of 9- and 10-year-old girls say they feel better about themselves when they are dieting. Moreover, low self-esteem operates as a risk factor for depression, which is the most common disorder among elderly people.

If you have a daughter, son, friend or family member (or even if you, yourself) is struggling with their self-esteem and body image issues, this is the film they should see. In this documentary, Kelly gives adults and teens permission to feel beautiful even though they aren't perfect.
